August 02, 2015 – In preparation for the Arctic Winter Games, the Kativik Regional Government’s (KRG) Recreation Department and Team Nunavik-Quebec (TNQ) are hiring coaches to manage a five-month long training and development program for youth between the ages of 13-17 years. There are currently 25 youth athletes in three remote Inuit communities that need guidance and leadership to train in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
KRG will coordinate coaches’ and athletes’ travel, logistical expenses (up to amounts given below), the purchase of sports and apparel equipment. Hired coaches will be required to design individualized or small group training programs, organize and run practices each week, as well as monitor athletes’ training.
This contract is a full-time position, and would involve a commitment of 35 hours/week for a five month period. The training period start date in Nunavik is October 2015 to finish mid-March 2016. This includes a one month leave for the Christmas holidays.
