CCC Athlete Development Coordinator & Coach
Ideally this position will be based in Canmore AB at the CCC head office. There is extensive travel associated with this job so an alternate location may be negotiated.
General Job Description
Reporting to the Director of High Performance Para-Nordic (DHP-PN), the Athlete Development Coordinator and Coach – Para Nordic (ADCC-PN) will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of CCC’s PN athlete development “NextGen” programs. The primary purpose of the ADCC-PN position is to recruit and develop PN athletes from First Contact to the Training to Compete stage of the Long Term Athlete Development Model to provide an athlete pathway and link to the Para-Nordic National team and ultimately meet CCC podium performance objectives. Knowledge and Skills

- Demonstrated knowledge of the cross country skiing long term athlete development model especially as it relates to athletes with a disability.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience regarding the technical aspects of cross country ski racing including ski equipment, specific disability equipment and experience in technical ski waxing.
- Resourceful self-starter aptitude which includes accepting responsibility for new tasks and alertness to opportunities to add value to Cross Country Canada.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (essential) and French (highly desirable).
- Ability to speak in public and make presentations to small groups in formal and informal settings.
- The ability to work as an engaged team player to support the success of the CCC PN Program.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with the willingness and ability to obtain a Class 4 driver’s license.
Experience
- Direct experience and demonstrated commitment to high performance sport with specific experience in cross-country skiing.
- At least three years of cross country ski coaching experience with a high performance focus.
- Demonstrated experience and interest in working with athletes with a physical disability and an awareness of physical disability as it relates to athletic performance.
- Post-secondary education in Sport Administration, Physical and Health Education, Coaching or a combination of related education and experience in amateur sport and cross country skiing.
- NCCP Certification completed to at least the CCI – advanced T2T level in cross country skiing, preferably including the Athlete with a Disability module or an equivalent level of education and experience.
- Ability and willingness to work towards advanced NCCP certification levels in cross country skiing.
Work Conditions
- This position involves extensive travelling to camps, competitions and other functions within Canada and sometimes internationally.
- Flexible working hours including extended periods of travel as well as evenings and weekends during the busiest times.
- Ability to work out of doors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
This is a full-time contract position with the option to become a full-time permanent position after one year. - This position is primarily in an office environment.
- Travel may be required occasionally but will not be extensive.
- During the busiest times or when travelling there may be some overtime including on evenings and weekends.
