Job Opportunity – Cross Country Ski Team Coach @ Augustana Vikings/Camrose Ski Club

April 21, 2016 (Camrose, AB) – The University of Alberta – Augustana Campus (Augustana) and the Camrose Ski Club (CSC), in collaboration with Cross Country Alberta (CCA), are seeking a coach for both the Augustana Vikings Cross Country Ski Team and the Camrose Ski Club.  Augustana and CSC are continuing an exciting and unique partnership to provide high-quality cross country ski programs for youth to university athletes.  The Coach will play a central role in delivering and enhancing these programs.

Augustana and CSC have a proud history in both competitive and recreational cross country skiing. Many Augustana and CSC athletes have very successfully competed at the local, provincial, national, and international levels. CSC maintains an outstanding and conveniently accessible 15 km system of cross country ski trails. Augustana provides state-of-the-art exercise physiology labs at the modern Camrose Recreation Centre training facility.

The following qualifications will be considered in assessing candidates:
•    a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in an applicable program;
•    a successful background in coaching cross country skiing and/or experience as an athlete competing in cross country skiing;
•    appropriate NCCP or equivalent certification;
•    excellent organizational skills;
•    good oral and written communication skills;
•    demonstrated leadership and motivational skills;
•    demonstrated ability to connect with athletes from youth to the university level;
•    leadership ability for and commitment to revenue generation in support of cross country skiing;
•    and ability to facilitate and develop community partnerships.

This one year term position is part-time (from July 1 to June 30), is renewable, and is based out of Camrose, Alberta. For the ideal candidate, there may be possibilities to combine this position with other coaching, teaching or administrative opportunities. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. This position is in accordance with the Contract Academic Staff: Teaching Agreement.
