Job Opportunity – Salomon Nordic Product Category Manager

July 10, 2011 (Ogden, UT) – Amer Sports Winter & Outdoor based in Ogden, UT has a job opportunity in their Salomon division for a Nordic Product Category Manager including overall product to market execution, merchandise planning, annual business planning including forecasting and monitoring supplies and inventory for all Nordic categories (Ski, Boot, Binding, Poles, and Accessories) and spare parts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily:
– Responsible for the overall product to market execution based on the priorities established with senior management in the US and Austria.
– Builds the assortment and manages the merchandise plan for the company in conjunction with development teams in France and Ogden both in the current product cycle (N) and the future product cycle (N+1). Conceptualizes the N+2 needs and priorities.
– Assist in the development in the annual business plan for all Nordic Categories (Ski, Boot, Binding, Poles, and Accessories), incorporating long and short term planning necessary to support objectives. Participate with the Sales Manager to plan, forecast, and monitor supply and inventory for Nordic categories and spare parts.
– Act as main contact with global development and design team. Communicate all product needs and briefs to support business growth in US market.
– Act as primary contact in the US for market intelligence, competitive feedback, and product training for the field force.
– Plan go-to-market strategies for new product launches.
– Manage the assembly, maintenance, and communication of all product range
information, pricing and schedules for the current product cycle and the next years cycle as needed and in collaboration with the WSE management, Sales, and CS team.
– Coordinate the ordering, distribution and return (where applicable) of all sample, demo, and intro product.
– Maintain current competitor files with updated information on price, terms, and product specifications. Establish and maintain the library of consumer magazines, trade magazines, films and videos for the category.
– Responsible for planning of trade show, sales meeting and pre-line presentations. Responsible to prepare and maintain company demo fleet(s).
– Assist in catalog development, timing, quantities, proofing and distribution.
– Work with marketing and media on PR requests, swag, give-a-ways and Sports
Marketing material.
– In charge of bi-annual CS training to educate CS on current season product.
– Conduct focus groups and be available for travel with International Product – Moderate travel required for regional/national trade shows and key account visits/focus groups. International travel several times a year for global launch meetings.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

– Proficiency in cross country skiing at the level to be able to participate with ski retailers and on snow demos. Nordic racing background is a plus.
– Familiar with the tuning and maintenance of Nordic Ski Equipment
– Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
– Strong interpersonal, communications and presentation skills
– Strong Microsoft Office skills
– Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and market research data.
– Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customer service, dealers, and consumers.
