The 27th Sgambeda has been confirmed and will be held on Saturday 3rd December 2016 in Livigno. Because of the warm weather in the region with parts of the valley being green and out of snow the course has been modified. But both the elite and amateur skiers will use the same 5km loop five times, ending the race after 25km.
With cold temperatures in the forecast for the coming week, the organisers are working day and night with artificial snow to offer the longest possible course. Snow guns are positioned along the course ready to produce more snow. Exact details of the course, start times etc. will be published on Tuesday.
The Minisgambeda has also been confirmed, scheduled for Sunday, 4th December at 11a.m., in which children and youngsters will be taking part over 1 to 5km.
Plaza Placheda will host the race office, the press room, the awards ceremonies, social events and the Expo area in which participants will be able to take a look at the very latest cross-country skiing equipment and displays of the event’s many sponsors.
The organizing committee has decided that participants of Sgambeda 2016 will receive a 30% discount of the entry of Sgambeda 2017. The discount will be available until end of April and more information will be sent out after the event.
Online registration is open until midnight Sunday 27/11. And late registration is possible up on availability on Friday 2/12 at the race office.
Sgambeda is the second event in Visma Ski Classics season VII, the long distance ski championship. All the best long distance skiers will attend the event together with the amateurs.
