July 06, 2018 (Thunder Bay, ON) – We are excited to announce that we have hired the team of Eric Bailey as Club Head Coach, and Rena Viehbek as Club Program Manager to deliver quality family oriented programming to club members, as well as to provide exceptional coaching to the athletes on Lappe Nordic’s race teams.

Rena, a former Lakehead U ski team athlete who raced for Canada at the FISU games, as Program Manager, will provide administrative support and coordination for Lappe’s programs: Bunny/Jackrabbit program, Track Attack program, Midget Ski Team, Kids Running Wild, Junior and Adult Race Teams, Masters programs, and Recreational Technique programs. She will also liaise with our school program.

Eric, one of Canada’s most accomplished ski coaches, brings 20 years of experience at all levels from club to NTDC to the National Team. He holds his Level 3 CCC coach qualification, as well as Master Coach Developer and Evaluator. His coaching philosophy, to provide a fun and energic environment rooted in sports science, will lead our club race teams to the next level. Eric has also been a key volunteer as Chief of Course at the last two Canadian Ski Nationals hosted in Thunder Bay.

Both Rena and Eric grew up in Thunder Bay’s ski community starting at the Jackrabbit level, racing and coaching at LU and beyond. Both are parents of young families and are eager to join our team of great volunteers, families and athletes.

We enthusiastically welcome Eric and Rena to our Lappe Nordic family.
