February 07, 2016 (Sun Valley, ID) – Nick Hendrickson (Utah Ski Team) and U.S. Ski Team member Caitlin Gregg (Team Gregg) claimed the men’s and women’s victories respectively at the 40th Zions Bank Boulder Mountain Tour, 34km, in Sun Valley, Idaho, on Saturday. Gregg finished 15th overall as the top woman.
Bozeman’s Sawyer Kesselheim pipped Utah’s Kevin Bolger at the line for second with Bolger settling for third in the men’s race. Veronika Mayerhofer, also from Utah, finished a mere two seconds behind Gregg in the women’s race with Sloan Storey in third at 1:17 behind.
Also notable in the Boulder Mountain Tour was former Utah skier Torin Koos, who finished eighth overall. A three-time All-American at Utah, Koos was a four-time Olympian who won six U.S. sprint titles.
The popular race is the finale of the Sun Valley Nordic Festival, Jan. 29-Feb.7 and form the backbone of the effort to bring the world to Sun Valley. The festival is supported by many local organizations such as the Vamps, Sun Valley Nordic, the Blaine County Recreation District, Galena Lodge, the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, along with local businesses and passionate individuals.
