October 25, 2015 (Northug) – With the start of the upcoming season about one month away the controversy in over as Petter Northug has reached an agreement with the Norwegian Ski Federation and signed a 3-year deal according to his Twitter feed.
“Glad to get the agreement in place. I am very happy that the Norwegian Ski Federation and I now agree to a good and long-term agreement that will last for three seasons. This means that I’ll participate in World Cup races and championships in the years ahead . I look forward to the start of this season,” writes the Norwegian star. “Now it’s just up to me to get in top shape. The agreement gives me the freedom I need to win ski races and more gold for Norway.”
According to langrenn.com the main framework of Northug’s agreement is similar to last season and is now extended for three years with Northug’s conditions regarding commercial agreements similar to the other team members.
“We are pleased that Petter Northug now has accepted a new agreement within the framework Norwegian Ski Association has been able to offer him. He joins the team throughout the season, with the same rights and obligations as every other national team runners,” commented Erik Røste president of the Norwegian Ski Federation.
