February 01, 2018 (Goms, SUI) – American Hailey Swirbul (APU) is on roll earning her third career Junior Nordic Worlds medal, the most of any US Nordic skier, as she claimed the bronze in the women’s 10km Skiathlon today in Switzerland.

The Colorado native and former Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club athlete won silver at the the women’s 5km classic on Jan. 30 and previously won bronze in the women’s relay at the 2017 Junior Nordic Worlds in Utah.

Kathleen O’Connell (USA) finished 20th followed by the top Canadian Natalie Hynes in 24th with teammate Hannah Mehain in 37th. Despite heavy snowfall Sweden’s Frida Karlsson took the lead soon after the start and remained in charge for the gold. Norwegian Lone Johansen was second.

In the Junior Men’s 15km Skiathlon Americans Gus Schumacher (Alaska Winter Stars) and Ben Ogden were 15th and 18th respectively. Felix Longpre was the top Canuck in 28th.

Harald Oestberg Amundsen led a Norwegian podium sweep taking the gold over Jon Rolf Skamo Hope in second with Joergen Lippert in third.
