September 28, 2015 (Thunder Bay, ON) – Sean Crooks was inducted into Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, along with four other honourees on Sept 26. Crooks was encouraged by his parents to participate in Nordic sports as a youth and he developing his skills in cross-country and ski jumping. Soon he found himself competing in Nordic combined, where he experienced early success, according to a feature article in
The Chronicle Journal.
Crooks went on to represent Canada on the world stage and he turned his focus back to cross-country skiing, competing and training with his hometown Thunder Bay’s Big Thunder Nordic Ski Club. A highlight of his athletic career was representing Canada at the 2006 Turin Olympics, where he finished 11th in the 4x10km team relay.
