Not only that, but True achieved the same epic status in cross-country running and outdoor track. True is the defending champion of the BAA 5k, and is an elite level runner, who just returned from the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon. He takes part in a program known as “In the Arena”, a non profit organization that sponsors him.
A year back he was second at the USA 10-mile championships and qualified for his first World Championship team in Spain, where he was the top US finisher in 36th. More recently True, who is based in Hanover, took part in the Olympic trials, where he participated in the 10K, and a pair of 5Ks. He was 12th in the 10, then took a sixth in the 5K finals. Just days ago, the Portland (ME) Press Herald reported that True had seen an area doctor, and is receiving treatment for possible Lyme disease. He told me he had been bitten by a tick shortly prior to his departure for the trials in Eugene. Enjoy this short interview with an amazing athlete.
