Team Canada’s Cross Country Squad Announced for 2019 World University Games

July 13, 2018 – Congratulations to the cross-country skiers who will be representing Canada at the 2019 World University Games in Krasnoyarsk, Russia in March next year. These skiers are full time university students who qualified over the 2017-2018 season. Canada’s Team leader for cross-country skiing is Katja Mathys.

FISU Games 2019 Athlete Selections

The selections below are based on eligibility and confirmed interest by the athlete.

According to the selection criteria, the following two standards were used:

  1. All selected athletes must have a minimum CPL points’ average of 86 points for men and 84 for women on either WUG distance or sprint ranking lists.
  2. The top two athletes on the sprint ranking list for each gender will be selected followed by the top four athletes on the distance ranking list of each gender. If an athlete in the top four on the distance ranking list was also in the top two on the sprint ranking list, the next ranked athlete on the distance ranking list will be selected.

Team SIZE: up to 6 males and up to 6 females.

To field a Women’s team, more females had to be selected from the Sprint List than the Distance List.
