About: Igor Badamshin loved skiing. Blessed with a gift for coaching young athletes, Igor often recharged Nordic skiing in Midwest communities during his visits. Igor died suddenly in 2013 while skiing on the Birkie Trail. The following summer to honor and recognize Igor’s countless contributions to Nordic skiing, Minocqua ski enthusiast Jim Mullen helped organize the inaugural Igor Legacy Camp at the Iola Winter Sports Club.
In traditional Igor style, the camp features physical movement activities and most importantly- FUN! The Camp is purposely designed to engage youth, relatively new to Nordic skiing, in roller skiing and technique activities, in addition to running, soccer, swimming and strength training events.
“I’m going back next year!” – Surya Balsiole (athlete)
“She absolutely loved it.” – Dan Balsiole (parent)
“The Madison Nordic Ski Team had a great time at the Igor Legacy Camp! We swam, ran, roller skied, hiked and played games with new friends from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota. The coaching staff was top-notch and our skiers went home happy and excited. I’d recommend these camps to to all Midwestern U12 and U14 skiers!” – Steve Swenson (coach)
