March 24, 2010 (Fort Kent, ME) – “Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow” stopped the women’s field from covering 30km on Wednesday, to see who would win the title of National 30km Champion. Wet but triumphant, the winner was Kikkan Randall (APU/USST), who had only just returned from the World Cup finale in Falun, Sweden.It was a well-fought tactical race from the start, with the main cast of racers including Randall, SuperTour leader Rebecca Dusseault (CXC), Holly Brooks (APU), Caitlin Compton (Team Ireland), and Nicole DeYong (SVSEF) and Tazlina Mannix (APU), as well as Kristina Strandberg (Atomic).It came down to Randall holding off Dussault, Brooks, and Compton, who finished in that order, all within 2.7 seconds of Randall. Canada’s Brooke Gosling, skiing for the Alberta World Cup Academy, finished 5th , 6.1seconds behind Randall, and 3.4 seconds behind Compton.
