January 28, 2019 (Osrblie, Slovakia) – The USA’s Garrett Beckrich led the North Americans in the Youth Men’s 12.5km individual finishing 20th with four penalties as the 2019 IBU Youth/Junior World Championships got underway in Osrblie, Slovakia. Logan Pletz was the top Canadian in 29th with two penalties.

In the youth women’s 10km individual it was Canadian Shilo Rousseau in 30th with four missed targets. Emma Stertz was the top finisher for the U.S. in 56th place as Greenland’s Ukaleq Astri Slettemark took the gold followed by Tereza Vobornikova in second and Finland’s Heidi Nikkinen in third.
