March 23, 2019 (Oslo, Norway) – Clare Egan raced to a top-10 finish claiming 9th in the women’s 10km Pursuit with three penalties at the Holmenkollen on Saturday as Slovakia’s Anastasiya Kuzmina went wire-to-wire with clean shooting for the win.
Denise Herrmann of Germany suffered two penalties and settled for second at 1:48 behind while Sweden’s Hanna Oeberg had one missed target and landed third on the final podium“I’m very happy with a top-10 finish today,” said Egan who held off World Cup leader Dorothea Wierer of Italy, among others. “There were a lot of good pieces…sixth-fastest ski time, one of my best shooting times, and two clean shooting stages. Of course, it’s disappointing to miss on the last stage, but I’m glad I was able to put myself in podium contention once again. I’ll try to learn from my mistakes today so I can have a stronger finish tomorrow.”
Susan Dunklee (USA) finished 18th with three penalties, Emma Lunder (Can) was 24th with six missed targets, Megan Bankes (Can) finishe 44th with three penalties while Joanne Reid finished 49th with four missed targets.
