USSA Statement Regarding SuperTour Sprint

release by USSA

November 23, 2012 – We would like to thank West Yellowstone and Bozeman for being great SuperTour Partners and for their collaborative effort in hosting these races. USSA has heard from the community with regards to relocating the SuperTour Sprint to Bozeman and has been working closely with the organizers to formulate a final plan.

Due to the force majeure of weather; In order to implement a plan requested from the majority, conduct races for all athletes attending West, satisfy the spirit of the SuperTour, and maximize every opportunity that the athletes have to qualify for the upcoming World Cups; USSA endorses the following plan:

1) If West receives the foot of snow they need to host the entire SuperTour sprint with finals than we would like the SuperTour sprint to remain on Saturday at West.

2) If West Yellowstone can only host a point to point Prologue than the “official” SuperTour race will be moved to Bozeman to conduct the full sprint on Thursday, November 29th.

3) West Yellowstone will still host a Prologue point to point race that will be a Sanctioned USSA/NRL race only and there will be no refunds to be given to the athletes.

4) If the freestyle sprint is relocated to Bozeman, this race WILL be the freestyle sprint used in the calculation as per the criteria for the World Cup races.

5) If West conducts a “Prologue only” at West Yellowstone, the prologue race will NOT be used in the criteria for selecting World Cups.

6) In addition, Athletes who plan on attending and competing in the Freestyle sprint in Bozeman will need to newly register and pay for the sprint race in Bozeman.

7) There will be an attempt to provide SuperTour prize money in Bozeman but it will be modified due to the late changes of this event. Modifications may include and are not limited to: A. No money given, B. A reduced amount given.

8) On Friday at noon, if there is not enough snow for the entire sprint at West Yellowstone, than the Bozeman SuperTour move will become official.
