UVM Wins on Home Snow to Take Winter Carnival Victory at Trapp Family Lodge

January 26, 2015 (Stowe, VT) – The University of Vermont took full advantage of home snow to take victory at the its UVM Winter Carnival at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT with 447 points ahead of Dartmouth College’s 427 points and the University of New Hampshire’s 400 points.

The first event of the weekend was the men’s 10km FR led by Patrick Caldwell (DAR), who successfully defended his free technique series lead, besting Rogan Brown (UVM) and Frederic Touchette (Laval), who finished second and third, respectively.

The women’s 5km FR saw Annika Taylor (UNH) finish in top spot after playing runner-up at the previous weekend’s Bates carnival. She bested second place Mary-Kate Cirelli (UVM), followed by Heather Mooney (MID), wearer of the free technique leader’s bib.

Day 2 kicked off with the men’s 15km CL mass start, with Caldwell picking up where he left off on Day 1 to  grab first in front of teammate Talbot. Tobias Trenkle (UVM) finished third. With three skiers in the top five, Dartmouth won the day.

The weekend’s action concluded with the women’s 10km CL that saw Taylor continue her winning ways to score gold ahead of UVM’s Mary-Kate Cirelli and Dartmouth’s Cory Stock.
