by John Symon

October 05, 2016 (North Muskegon, Michigan) – The fifth annual Oktoberfest took place in Muskegon State Park on Saturday, October 1 reports Mlive.com. This event reputedly features the world’s longest beer garden trail measuring some two or three miles (3-4.5km) in length on what are cross-country ski trails during the winter season. At various spots along the trails, live music was offered.

The Oktoberfest is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Winter Sports Complex where a luge track, cross-country skiing trails, ice skating, sledding and other activities can be found.

Five miles (8km) of trails lighted for cross-country skiing, can be found in the park according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The trails are a diverse series of loops that meander through a variety of landscapes, from flat land to bog; from low land to the top of scenic sand dunes. This is apparently the longest lit ski trail network in the Midwest. There are also 12 miles (18km) of hiking trails in the park.
