2004 New England Women’s Ski Day

January 23, 2004 – Super Bowl Sunday is for Skiing! Join us for a fun day of cross-country skiing for women, by women. The third annual New England Women's XC Ski Day, sponsored by Banknorth and held in support of Family Crissis Services in Portland, ME, is a chance for women of all ages and abilities to learn more about cross-country skiing and the friends, fun and fitness they will gain from the activity.

Cross-country clinics are offered for every level of skier from never-evers to masters. There will also be  wax clinics, daycare (no infants), lunch and a prize drawing, with  Olympic gold medalist, Joan Benoit Samuelson on hand to sign autographs. An outdoor Nordic Expo clothing and equipment retailers will have items to try and to buy.  Demo equipment and rental equipment is available for a small fee — please note what you need when you  register. A fun relay (optional) will conclude the day with awards for  mother/daughter, sister/sister, relative/relative, friend/friend, and  oldies/oldies (minimum combined age 100) teams.

This year New England Women's XC Ski Day is supporting Family Crisis Services of Portland, ME. One dollar of every entry fee will go to help provide  these important services to women and children in the Portland-area  community.

9-10am: Registration 10am-4pm: NENSA  Expo: Equipment suppliers, outfitters and clothiers from the ski industry will be on hand with goods to try out and purchase 10-10:45am: Skating and Classictechnique clinics for never-evers, beginners and intermediate level skiers. 11-11:45am: Skating and Classic Technique clinics Noon-1:30pm: Lunch break and raffle drawing for prizes 1:30-2:15pm: Skating and Classic Technique clinics 2:30-3pm: Fun  Two-Woman Relay 3:15pm: Awards and Wrap-up

Directions:  Take 1-95 to Exit 11, Gray,  ME.  Bear right off exit toward Gray. Stay in right Lane continue through light to  rte 115. After 1.6 miles turn left on Depot  Rd.  At stop sign turn left on Rte 231 then turn left on  Morse  Rd.  and right onto Farm  View Drive.  Visitor’s Center is first building on right
