2005-2006 TD Banknorth Nordic/NENSA Event Schedule

provided by NENSA

October 3, 2005 (Colchester, VT) – The New England Nordic Ski Assocation (NENSA) is pleased to present the 2005-2006 TD Banknorth/ NENSA major events schedule. What follows is a preview of this exciting, Olympic year schedule. Media contacts will also receive pre and post event press releases and results for all TD Banknorth Eastern Cup, Club Series, Zak Cup and Marathon Series events. These are also posted on the website, and are posted and sent out to the media within hours of the completion of each event.

This complete calendar is available on our website www.nensa.net. The website Schedule includes complete event details, including race distances and formats, and is continually updated and revised throughout the season.

The most exciting news is the return of the USSA Spring Series to New England. NENSA has agreed to a 2-year hosting arrangement with USSA for this event. The TAMC / TD Banknorth International Spring Series will take place March 18-26, 2006 at the Maine Winter Sports Center venues in Presque Isle and Caribou, Maine. The races include the US National Championship 30K for women and 50K for men as the final event of the series, with a 15K for juniors. The combination of the Spring Series and the National Championship will attract the very best skiers in North America, many just back from the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, and allow New England-based athletes of all ages to race side-by-side with their heroes.

Also new this year is the two days of racing for each of the TD Banknorth Eastern Cup weekends. This will allow athletes to participate in more local citizen, school, or Club series events, take weekends as “training” weekends, and rest when needed.

Attached below is the schedule broken up by Series and again, chronologically with national and international events included.

This schedule prepares NENSA for a strong 2005-2006 season. In addition to hosting a high profile national event, a very strong regional series, and a growing Marathon Series, the NENSA Travels opportunities broaden NENSA’s program focus to include a recreational component and more opportunities for New England’s adult skiers. New England Women’s XC Ski Day will continue to introduce new people to cross country skiing and NENSA while celebrating New England’s strong heritage and exciting future. And finally, the New England Bill Koch League Youth Ski Festival promises to share this exciting life-long sport with the next generation.
