provided by CCC

February 14, 2007 – The Paralympic Equipment Fund is a grassroots initiative designed to increase the depth of talented athletes with a disability competing in one of the four Paralympic winter sports. The goal of the program is to assist local and provincial organizations in delivering effective athlete development programs to the next generation of competitive athletes by increasing the availability of high performance Paralympic specific sporting equipment. Competitive athletes are defined as athletes that train under the guidance of a qualified coach/instructor and compete at local competitions. The Paralympic Equipment Fund will allocate grants to community-based clubs, or provincial sport organizations, in good standing with a CPC Member organization. The Paralympic Equipment Fund is made possible through financial contributions from Petro-Canada and the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC). The CPC is a not-for-profit charitable organization whose mission is to grow and promote the Paralympic Movement in Canada. The deadline to submit a Paralympic Equipment Fund application is 17:00 (ET) April 6, 2007.
