February 14, 2010 (Whistler, BC) – France’s Jay Vincent scored biathlon gold in the men’s

10km Sprint on Sunday as Canada’s Jean Philipp LeGuellec put on quite a show for home town fans leading the North Americans with a 6th place finish.

Jay began the individual start event in Bib#6 and had an excellent day of skiing and shooting. Soon after he crossed the finish line it began to rain and then snow, which wreaked havoc on the remaining athletes and the results. Norway’s Emil Svendsen prevailed to take the silver while Jakov Fak of Croatia won the bronze.

LeGuellec in bib #8 shot clean prone and missed one standing to claim  6th while the USA’s Jeremy Teela produced the best-ever US Olympic biathlon result making the top ten finishing in 9th. He started in bib #13, and missed one shot in prone and one in standing, putting him out of the top 5. His team mate Lowell Bailey starting in bib #62 shot clean to finish 36th with Tim Burke placing 47th and  and Jay Hakkinen (USA) 54th.
