February 16, 2010 (Whistler, BC) – Bjorn Ferry won gold for Sweden in the Olympic Biathlon
men’s 12.5km Pursuit on Tuesday with Austria’s Christoph Sumann moving up from 12th to claim the silver, while Sunday’s gold medalist in the Sprint, Vincent Jay, hung on for the bronze medal. It could have been another debacle at the Biathlon venue, this one man-made instead of Mother Nature. There was some confusion at the start, as race attendants let, among others, Canada’s Jean-Phillipe Le Guellec and the USA’s Jeremy Teela out
of the start early by as much as 30 seconds. It could have affected the dynamic of the Pursuit more than it did – but the mistake did not affect the eventual outcome of the final medalists as none of the early athletes was close enough to the podium. Le Guellec placed a solid 11th at 1:13.5 while Jeremy Teela finished in 24th at 2:11.Full results here.
