2010 Olympic Biathlon Women’s 10km Pursuit Flash – Neuner Wins Gold

February 16, 2010 (Whistler, BC) – Magdalena Neuner of German upgraded  her silver in Sunday’s Sprint, by winning gold in today’s Olympic Biathlon women’s 10km Pursuit. Starting two seconds behind Sprint gold medalist, Anastazia Kuzmina (SVK), Neuner stalked and then shot better than Kuzmina in each of the four shooting stages, to earn her victory with a time of 30:16.0.

Kuzmina hung on for silver, and France’s Marie Laure Brunet moved up from 6th place following the Sprint, starting the day 28seconds behind Kuzmina and 26 seconds behind Neuner, to claim the bronze.

Canada’s Megan Tandy was 36th, moving up from 46th in the Sprint, finishing +3:46.2. The U.S. also fielded only one competitor, Sara Studebaker, who was 46th today at +4:44.1
