October 6, 2009 (Whiteface, NY) – The third annual New York Ski Educational Foundation Whiteface Climb to the Castle rollerski race is set to start on Wed. morning Oct. 7, at 9 a.m. According to organizer Margaret Maher, 75 athletes are currently signed up to event. Participants include members of the U.S. XC Ski Team, U.S. Nordic Combined Team, Sun Valley Olympic Development Team, and CXC Vertical Limit Team.

The course starts at the Whiteface Toll Booth, climbing for 5 miles/8km with an average 8% grade up the Whiteface Memorial Highway to the castle on the summit of Whiteface Mountain – New York’s 5th highest peak with an elevation of 4,867 ft/1,622m
