January 01, 2012 (Obertsdorf, Germany) – Check out this sequence of photos that show how Petter Northug (NOR) powered his way to another victory at the finish of the men’s 20km Skiathlon. Maxim Vylegzhanin (RUS) attacked near the end but Northug kept his cool sitting in fourth. As the leaders took the final corner before the straighaway to the finish they all went wide leaving the inside lane for Northug.

Naturally he took it and then wound it up down the straight passing Marcus Hellner (SWE) first. Meanwhile Dario Cologna (SUI) was also jetting to the finish catching and passing Vylegzhanin. But Northug was a rocket catching Vylegzhanin as well and then it was the two Tour leaders out front battling for glory… which Northug claimed as he double poled his way ahead of Cologna for the win.
