July 06, 2011 (Ottawa, ON) – The nation’s top biathletes will be dressed for success while pursuing excellence representing Canada around the world, thanks to the addition of Apogée Sports to the team’s pool of product sponsors, Biathlon Canada recently announced.

Quebec-based Apogée Sports, a world-leader in designing high-performance sport clothing, will supply the Canadian Biathlon Team with all race suits, warm-up clothing and outer-wear for three years up to, and including, 2014.

“Having access to the best technology in clothing plays an important role in podium performances,” said Joanne Thomson, executive director, Biathlon Canada. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with a company like Apogée who will engage our athletes in testing for the best materials, and which will instill additional confidence in our team when they hit the start line.”

Apogée Sports, who specializes in Nordic skiing, road and mountain biking, speed skating and alpine products, has specialized in creating the best high-performance apparel since 1998.

“Our design team has focused on providing the best clothing required to drive podium performances for a select number of sport teams,” said Stéphane Roy, President, Apogée Sports, who is also very active in the company’s research and development team. “We are excited to have the opportunity to work with Canada’s best high performance biathletes, and have them test new designs and high-end technology fabrics that will increase muscle recuperation.”

As official supplier of Biathlon Canada, Apogée Sports will out fit the World Cup, World Championship and IBU Cup teams as well as the Youth/Junior World championship teams.  In addition, Biathlon Canada will work closely with Apogée to create unique outfits for our athletes participating in the 2012 Youth Olympic Games and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.  Apogée also plans to create other merchandise for Biathlon Canada members as well as create partnerships with local clubs and Divisional teams.
