APU Makes First Tracks at Hatcher’s Pass

release by Alaska Pacific Nordic Ski Center
October 17, 2008 (Anchorage, AK) – If there is skiing anywhere in North America at this time of year, there is a good chance it’s at Hatcher’s Pass. Hatcher’s Pass is an old mining operation turned State Park and is known for it’s big early season snowfalls. This year is no except with over two feet of snow on the ground already. Hatcher Pass is located about and hour and 15 minutes from Anchorage, and sits in a mountain bowl behind the town of Palmer.

Thanks to the tireless work by local Ed Strabel, the APU Ski Team yesterday was treated to fresh classic tracks. Today again, Ed’s work overnight enabled the team to bust out their racing skis on beautifully smooth and set up skate lanes. Thanks Ed!
