Beckie Scott Cruises to NorAm Victory in Alaska

November 8, 2005 -Canada’s Beckie Scott cruised to an easy victory in her first NorAm competition of the season, a 10 kilometre pursuit on Sunday in Fairbanks, Alaska.

The Olympic gold medallist skied extremely well despite cold conditions in Alaska to handily win the pursuit event with a time of 29 minutes 58.1 seconds – more than two minutes faster than the second-place finisher.

Kikken Randall of the United States crossed the line in second in the women’s event with a time of 32:09.7, while Wendy Wagner rounded out the top three at 32:34.1

Drew Goldsack skied in third spot for most of the men’s 20 kilometre pursuit race. However, the Red Deer, Alta. native ran out of gas down the stretch and settled for fifth spot with a time of 56 minutes 04.3 seconds, just over a minute off the pace for a spot on the podium

It was a United States sweep of the men’s podium. Kris Freeman skied his way to the top of the podium with a time of 54:03.4, while Justin Freeman was second at 55:28.8, and Andrew Johnson claimed the bronze medal at 55:30.9.
