Beitostolen Day 1 Sprint Results – Randall 9th, Newell 14th, Koos 15th

November 13, 2009 (Beitostolen, Norway) – In coldish weather for this time of year, -9 centigrade with light snow, Kikkan Randall (USA) placed 7th in the qualifications, and finishing 9th in the women’s FIS Calendar 1.4km sprint final in Beitostolen, Norway on Friday won by top qualifer Petra Majdic (Slo). Morgan Arritola placed 50th in the qualifications and did not advance. Fellow Americans Andy Newell and Torin Koos were 14th and 15th making it to the 1/4 finals in the men’s 1.8km Classic sprint won by Norway’s John Kristian Dahl. Newell qualified 10th while Koos qualified in 13th. No Canadians competed.

Muonio, Finland Races
Here are the results from the women’s 1km Classic sprint won by Alena Prochazkova (Svk) and the men’s 1.4km sprint won by Nikita Kriukov (Rus). Maine Winter Sports Program skiers John Dixon placed 135th in the qualifications while team mate Welly Ramsey was 155th and Pavel Sotskov placed 157th.
