Biathletes Bill Bowler and Lanny Barnes Win Ethan Allen Range Roll

release by Janice Sibilia/NENSA.net
August 11, 2008 – Today Mother Nature was kind…the sun was out for most of the race, the roller ski track began to dry out and the athletes were able to charge hard around the course. For some it was the final effort in a week long biathlon camp taking place at the Ethan Allen Firing Range. Their effort was no less diminished however, despite this being their 3rd race in 5 days.

Durango, Colorado and US Biathlon’s Lanny Barnes edged Lake Placid, NY’s Jennifer Wygant by 1.7 seconds to take victory in today’s Ethan Allen Range Roll, race #2 in the NENSA V2 Rollerski Series. The two athletes were on evenly matched V2 850’s donated to NENSA by V2 / Jenex rollerskis. US Biathlon Development Team member Bill Bowler, racing on the NENSA V2 850 rollerskis outpaced two competitors on their own skis and the rest of the field to win the men’s.

For some it was the final effort in a week long biathlon camp taking place at the Ethan Allen Firing Range. Their effort was no less diminished however, despite this being their 3rd race in 5 days. For others it was a chance to test themselves against their peers and have an opportunity to put on a bib and toe the start line.

Sixty two racers took part, making this the second largest roller ski race event in the series’ history. The fall roll (#2) promises to be even bigger with the participation expected to include several collegiate teams. Top seeded skiers were given the option to use the Matched V2 Roller skis, made possible by Jenex/V2.
