March 6, 2006 – Position: Marketing Director

Job Description: Biathlon Canada, the national governing body for the sport of biathlon in Canada, is seeking a full-time Marketing Director to direct the organization’s overall marketing and fundraising programs including team visibility strategies.

The successful candidate will: · Plan and direct the organization’s marketing and fundraising activities to achieve stated/agreed targets · Develop and execute annual marketing plans/strategies for the association · Enhance existing client relationships through client development activities, events and special projects · Identify new business/sponsorship opportunities and work with the Executive Director to develop promotional and incentive donation program strategies · Coordinate fundraising activities and public events, as appropriate · Negotiate contractual agreements with sponsors and suppliers and manage sponsor contractual obligations · Identifies potential relationship growth areas and plans accordingly · Involvement with policies regarding athlete personal sponsorship opportunities and coordination of sponsor requests for athlete appearances · Pursue and manage television broadcasting opportunities for the sport · Create and manage the association’s e-commerce program and photo library · The successful candidate should be prepared to undertake other tasks as may be required.

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of corporate marketing and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of successfully and profitably managing a company department or similar-type business unit. Biathlon Canada is looking for a self-starter with strong consensus building abilities, effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and experience in sport marketing. He/she will have the ability to prepare documentation as it relates to servicing partner agreements. Knowledge of sport of biathlon, the Canadian sport system and other Nordic sports are considered strong assets.

Post-secondary education in Marketing or Commerce required. Bilingualism and experience in sport and/or the private sector preferred.
