January 10, 2009 (Oberhof, Germany) – Alaska’s Jay Hakkinen was the top American at Saturday’s Biathlon WCup event in Oberhof Germany. Hakkinen completed the 10km sprint race in a time of 26:55.8 which was good enough for 17th place 1:06.3 off the lead time, shooting clean except for one miss. Maxin Tchoudov of Russia won the race in a time of 25:49.5, followed Michael Roesch of Germany +12.7 seconds back – both athletes shot clean. In third was Polish biathlete Thomasz Sikora + 25.2 seconds back. Other American finishes were Tim Burke in 22nd, Lowell Bailey 39th, and Jeremy Teela in 46th.
