January 9, 2008 (Lake Placid, N.Y.) – World Championships Nordic Combined silver medalist Bill Demong came back to the Adirondacks for the Christmas holidays and prepped for the rest of the World Cup season with some light skiing in and around Lake Placid. Demong, who is sponsored by the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA), skied at Mount Van Hoevenberg and also jumped at the Olympic Jumping Complex on the outskirts of town. It turned out to be a good formula – he was second in the first two World Cup events after returning to central Europe and moved up to third place in the overall Nordic Combined standings.
