December 16, 2010 – Norway’s queen of xc skiing, Marit Bjoergen, is on the verge of making history and will soon eclipse Bente Skari’s (NOR) record of 42 World Cup wins for women if she continues her winning streak in La Clusaz, France, this weekend at round five of the Viessmann FIS World Cup.
Bjoergen has 41 wins but Skari’s total of 42 is a topic of discussion in Norway reports langd.se. Bjoergen is unbeaten this season with nine consecutive World Cup wins (langd.se says eight but we count nine) and is vying for the legendary Norwegian Bjorn Dählie’s men’s record of 46 wins as well – read more HERE.

FIS’s method for counting WC “victories” is, shall we say, dubious. Any sensible count has her at 43.
