Boe 2-for-2 Takes Hochfilzen Biathlon WCup Pursuit – Burke 19th

December 11, 2010 (Hochfilzen, Austria) – Tarjei Boe of Norway continued his winning streak scoring his second world cup win in as many days as he powered to a solid victory while snow fell in the men’s 12.5km pursuit in 36:32.4 with one miss over Austria’s Simon Elder in second and Russian Ivan Tcherezov in third.

The USA’s Tim Burke continued to move up the ladder breaking the top-20 with his 19th place finish at 2:24.2 behind Boe with three missed shots while team mate Lowell Bailey finished in 39th with two misses. Nathan Smith lead the Canadian effort in 48th followed by Brendan Green in 54th and Jean-Philippe Le Guellec who had a tougher day on the trails placing 59th with 8 misses.

Boe did not expect to win again but he shot well and his skis were fast. “No, no, no . . . I never expected to come here and win twice. My form is good but it’s hard in biathlon with so many athletes who can win. My shape in cross-country was good and my shooting is good and fast, then it’s no problem,” said Boe post race.
