Bogus Basin Nordic Team Assistant Coach Opening

October 25, 2011 (Boise, Idaho) – The Bogus Basin Nordic Team (BBNT) in Boise, ID is the club program serving youth skiers age 6-19 in the Treasure Valley.  Currently, the team consists of around 10 high school skiers, 20 middle school athletes and 30 or more elementary aged skiers divided into 4 groups.  Boise has several times been selected as a Top Ten city to live, work and play.  There is an active and young population in town and a supportive ski community.

BBNT is seeking to hire a Part-time Head Coach for the middle school Comp-Devo Team/Assistant Coach for the high school Comp Team.   Position requires that you be available for practice after school Tuesday-Thursday, Saturday mornings and the middle of the day on Sunday.  There will be a minimal amount (2 hours/week max) of planning and duties outside of practice that could be worked on at any time.  Additionally there are 3-4 overnight trips and 3-4 out of town day races on the schedule.  Candidates would be encouraged to have a second part time job or take classes at Boise State University if interested.

Duties include:
– Conduct safe, fun and developmentally appropriate practices for comp and Comp-Devo teams.
– Write and execute training plan for comp-devo team with assistance from BBNT Program Director.
– Safely drive vans to Bogus Basin and out of town trips.
– Work with and assist Rec Team or Comp Team coaches if schedules overlap.
– Work with and manage parent volunteers and assistant coaches who will assist you in practice and at races.
– Ensure practice runs smoothly even if you are not present.  If you are sick, on vacation, etc. it will be your responsibility to find volunteers or other coaches to fill in for you.  It will also be your responsibility to let athletes and families know that you are not the contact person for the days you are missing.
– Communicate with athletes and families by email, website, and phone of schedule changes or information about out of town trips (Program Director will assist in these duties when applicable).
– Attend out of town races and overnight trips with the Comp-Devo team.
– Assist in hosting races at Bogus Basin on December 21st and December 31st.
– Assist in fundraisers and functions over the course of the season.
– Complete the USSA Level 100 coaches certification program paid for by BBNT.

Must be available from November 29th-March 1st as a minimum but Beginning of November-End of March is preferred.  If the candidate is a good fit there is potential for the job to continue through the summer or seasonally in future winters.

Ideal candidates will be skiers with experience at the Junior National or Collegiate level with experience working with middle and high school students. Previous coaching experience is desired but not required.

The salary is $6000-$9000 depending on availability and experience
