Brennan, Blackhorse-von Jess, Gorman & Blanchet Win FR Sprint Titles on Final Day of 2015 U.S. XC Nationals

January 11, 2015 (Houghton, Michigan) – APU’s Rosie Brennan scored a remarkable hat-trick winning the women’s 1.5km FR Sprint on Saturday taking home her third national title at the 2015 U.S. Cross Country Championships. With wins in both classic and freestyle sprinting and the 20km CL she is in a talent class of her own as an all round performer.

Caitlin Gregg (Team Gregg/Madshus), the fastest qualifier and winner of the 10km FR on the opening day, claimed second with  Jennie Bender (Bridger Ski Foundation) landing third on the podium.

In the men’s race the Bend Endurance Academy’s Dakota Blackhorse-von Jess proved he can sprint both classic and freestyle, qualifying fastest and taking the men’s A-Final over APU’s Tyler Kornfield in second and Reese Hanneman in third. Veteran distance skier, Kris Freeman (Freebird), winner of the men’s 30km CL showed his sprinting skills are on the rise as he made the A-Final and finished 4th.

It was APU Nordic Ski Center back on top in the Junior Women’s race with Lydia Blanchet taking the A-Final victory over Emily Hyde (Mount Bachelor Ski Education Foundation) in second with Rebekka Schueder (Northern Michigan University) rounding out the podium.

Henry Gorman (Wasatch Nordic Ski Academy) topped the Junior Men’s field over Dylan Syben (Unleashed Coaching) in second and Seiji Takagi (Alaska Winter Stars) in third.
