June 13, 2011 – (Prince George, BC) – The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is inviting applications for full-time coaching positions at the Otway Nordic Ski Centre in Prince George.  As a club coach you will work with volunteer NCCP coaches to implement the CCC Long Term Athlete Development Model across all programs in the club.

Caledonia Nordic Ski Club is an organization of sixteen hundred members in Prince George, BC with a large enrollment in youth skill development programs, junior and masters racing programs. As development coach you will work with volunteer NCCP coaches and assist in implementation of the CCC Long Term Athlete Development Model within the club through program development, support and involvement. The club mandate is to provide programs for the continuous development of cross-country skiing from introductory experience to national excellence for participants of all ages and abilities.

Job Title: Development Coach
Reports to: Director of Programs
Location: Otway Nordic Ski Centre

Specific Accountabilities:
– Personal Development – implement a personal development plan to reach the Competition Coaching NCCP level for Learn to Compete athletes within a maximum of three years. Maintain a personal coaching career plan that includes continuous improvement and growth.
– Program Development – work with volunteer coaches and program leaders to align existing programs with the LTAD model and to develop new programs as the need is recognized to keep members in the club and in the sport regardless of their ski goals or abilities.
– Athlete Development – implement a fall dryland training program open to all club skiers from September to snow fall in early December. Develop annual training plans and actively recruit and coach athletes from the Learn to Train program level to the Learn to Compete LTAD program level. Support club athletes at provincial/national events.
– Coaching Development – Assist volunteer coaches in the development of personal coaching development plans and personal training programs for athletes. Take CCC Learning Facilitator courses to enable hands on training of newly recruited volunteer coaches. Deliver technical ski sessions for volunteer coaches.
– Administration – assist Director of Programs with annual operating plans for each program with budgets and measureable outcomes. Provide a brief monthly written progress report to the Director of Programs with respect to planned tasks and achievements, and the status of club programs.

Qualifications:
– Will be familiar with the CCC Long Term Athlete Development model.
– Will be either an athlete with high performance competition experience or a technically sound skier with an official NCCP certification designation.
– Will have skills in basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Demonstrated Abilities:
– Good communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
– Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
– Motivated to work independently and take a leadership role.

Conditions of Employment:
– Full time salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
– Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as programs require.
– Possession of a vehicle and valid BC Drivers licence.
– Provision of a criminal records check.

– Coaching Development – lead the development of coaching capacity within the club to meet the needs of all athletes. Develop overall coaching plans for the club, contribute to budgeting for and oversee implementation of plans annually.  Take CCC Learning Facilitator courses to enable hands on training of newly recruited volunteer coaches. Mentor volunteer coaches in the development of personal coaching development plans and personal training programs for athletes.  Deliver technical ski sessions for volunteer coaches.
– Administration – assist Director of Programs with annual operating plans for each program with budgets and measureable outcomes.  Provide a brief monthly written progress report to the Director of Programs with respect to planned tasks and achievements, and the status of club programs.

– Will be a career coach with high performance experience and a minimum official NCCP certification designation of Competition Coaching NCCP level for Learn to Compete (CCD?L2C), or capable of reaching this level within one ski
season, or a former Level 3 NCCP coach.
– Will have skills in basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
