Canada’s Kershaw Sick and Replaced by Kuhn in Team Relay

by Laura Robinson

March 04, 2011 (Oslo, Norway) – The best laid plans don’t always work out. Canada’s Devon Kershaw, who is having the season of a lifetime and winner of the gold medal with Alex Harvey in the team sprint two days ago, had to back out of the 4x10km relay team because of illness. Stephan Kuhn has replaced him in the start position. With Alex Harvey also absent on the team, they were already 20 seconds back by the first 3.3km as Sweden, Norway and Russia immediately took control of the race.

The team consists of Kuhn, Len Valjas called up from the U23 team, veteran Ivan Babikov and anchor George Grey. Hopefully Kershaw will be healthy and start the 50km mass start with Harvey.
