CCC Bids Farewell to Cathy Harris and Welcomes to Ilona Gyapay

release by CCC

September 08, 2018 (Canmore, Alta.) – After 8 years with Cross Country Canada in different roles within the Coaching and Athlete Development operational area – more recently assuming the CAD coordinator role – Cathy Harris is leaving us to take on new professional challenges.

We sure will be missing Cathy’s contagious enthusiasm and passion for her role at CCC and for sport in general. “Cathy has been instrumental in helping me along with other staff and volunteers build CCC’s CAD area into a thriving and dynamic operation. We are very proud of what we have accomplished together over the years and Cathy’s contribution to those successes will always be remembered. She won’t be missed only by the CCC staff but also by all the division coordinators with whom she has developed productive professional relationships and also friendships through many years working together,” Stephane Barrette CAD director.

With Cathy leaving, the CAD coordinator role will now be filled by Ilona Gyapay, starting September 4. Ilona is a dynamic cross-country ski enthusiast who despite her young professional career already has an impressive track record of various involvements in the cross country world. Once a racer herself originating from North West Territories, Ilona has filled a number of coaching roles with different age groups and development stages as well as completing a degree in physical education from the University of Alberta.

We are thrilled to welcome Ilona among the CCC family and community and we are anxious for you to meet her!
