CCC Job Notice: Assistant Director High Performance – Para-Nordic

August 04, 2010 (Canmore, AB) – Cross Country Canada (CCC), the national sport governing body for the sport of cross-country skiing in Canada, is currently seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Director High Performance – Para-Nordic who possesses the vision, passion and skills required to facilitate fulfillment of CCC’s mission and mandate through the development and delivery of Para-Nordic programs. The successful candidate will work out of CCC’s national office in Canmore, Alberta.

General Responsibilities
As part of the Cross Country Canada High Performance team, the Assistant Director of High Performance – Para-Nordic is accountable for leading the ongoing development and delivery of high performance and development programs for Para-Nordic athletes with the goal of delivering sustainable podium performances at Paralympic Games.

Specific Duties
– Under the supervision of the Executive Director and Director of High Performance and in collaboration with other principal staff, volunteers, provincial sport organizations and other agencies lead the development of strategic plans, programs and policies for Para-Nordic athletes;
– Under the supervision of the Executive Director and Director of High Performance, and with the help of CCC’s Director of Marketing identify and initiate applications for sources of financial support for Para-Nordic programs;
– And Manage and lead Para-Nordic high performance operations including training camps, plans and international competitions.

Qualifications and Critical Skills
– Demonstrated success in leadership, planning and budgeting, communication (verbal and written), and human resource management;
– Sound judgment and decision making skills;
– Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team and cultivate values of mutual respect and inclusion;
– Highly motivated self-starter;
– Strong consultative skills;
– Resolute commitment to performance excellence, personal integrity and accountability;
– Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment;
– Direct experience or a strong understanding of disabled sports;
– Experience in the Canadian sport system is highly desirable; and
– Coaching or other sport experience at the international level is highly desirable.

Compensation
A fair compensation package will be determined based on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
