February 10, 2010 (Canmore, AB) – After an eventful Alberta World Cup race weekend in Canmore, AB, Fast and Female presented by Best Buy hosted its first downtown ski event, with enthusiastic participants cross-country skiing down Main Street in Canmore. Founded in 2005 by Olympian Chandra Crawford, Fast and Female presented by Best Buy is dedicated to empowering young female athletes through sport.

Canmore’s Ski & Chat series attracted 90 young girls, 50 enthusiastic parents, 10 dedicated volunteers, and 8 inspiring World Cup ambassadors, including Sara Renner, Rhonda Jewett, Brooke Gosling, Sekwan Trottier, Sarah Murphy, Mallory Deyne, Sarah Daitch, Madeleine Williams, and American skiers, Kikkan Randall and Liz Stephen.

“It was really cool having our first “urban” Fast and Female event and for it to be part of the great celebration and community investment that b rough snow to main street Canmore,” said Chandra Crawford, Olympic gold medalist in cross-country skiing, of her hometown. “It’s always heartening to see my friends and teammates spread the love of cross-country skiing throughout North America,” she added.

“From Zumba dancing to an incredible performance by Drum Café to ski games like Finish Line Lunge and Fashion Walk on Skis, I saw some big smiles and everyone had a great time,” said Crawford. “A thousand thank yous to everyone who worked so hard for this exciting event!”
