Charlo Race Site Gets a $429K Face Lift

August 08, 2010 (Charlo, New Brunswick) – The home of Les Aventuriers ski club in Charlo, New Brunswick has been the site of many high-level races over the years. In 2004 the club hosted the Canadian Ski Nationals and in 2007 the Biathlon Nationals. In 2011 the Biathlon Nationals will return to Charlo, and the site is getting a half-million dollar investment from the province to get things ready reports cbc.ca. Upgrades, totaling $429,000 will include a 1.4km paved and lit rollerski loop, a covered and lit shooting range, a plyometrics/ strength condition/ agility station and many trail upgrades as well.

Donald Arseneault, the province’s the training and labour minister, made the announcement Friday. The goal is to create a high-level training and racing facility for both cross-country and biathlon in Eastern Canada much like the one in Canmore, Alberta. Read more HERE.
