February 10, 2009 (Canmore, Ab) – The young women participating in Fast and Female’s empowering programming just got a healthy boost thanks to the recent support offered by CV Technologies Inc., the maker of COLD-FX®. As Canada’s most popular cold and flu medicine, COLD-FX joins Fast and Female as a top, Diamond Level Partner and as the organization’s exclusive Cold and Flu Remedy supplier for 2009.

Fast and Female, a not-for-profit organization intently focused on inspiring young female athletes between the ages of 9 to 19 years old to lead healthy and active lives through sports, was launched in 2005 by Olympic Gold Medalist in Cross-Country Skiing, Chandra Crawford.

“COLD-FX’s valuable support to Fast and Female not only helps us on our mission to empower more young women through sports, but also ensures that adults participating in our exciting events have strong immune systems throughout the long winter months,” said Fast and Female Founder and President and full-time Olympic athlete, Chandra Crawford.

COLD-FX’s support will be strategically targeted to the successful planning and hosting of the 2009 Winter Ski Festival scheduled for March 28 at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary. On that special day, 150 female youth participants and 30 elite racers will join Crawford and her National Team teammates including Sara Renner for full, free day of skate ski drills, biathlon, yoga, dancing, healthy eating, and inspirational presentations. The day’s events will also feature an adult “Amazing Tips” seminar, targeted specifically to parents, coaches, sports leaders and educators working with female athletes. The Fast and Female Ski Festival will officially kick off on Thursday, March 26 with a VIP, adult fundraising cocktail held from 4 to 7 p.m. at BELGO Restaurant in downtown Calgary.

Since its inception, Fast and Female has hosted six such ski festivals, reaching more than 700 young women. Previous events have been held at Silver Star Ski Resort (B.C.), Canmore (AB), Thunder Bay (ON), Mont-Saint-Anne (QC), and Callaghan Valley’s Whistler Olympic Park (B.C.). The most recent Fast and Female event was led by US Cross-Country Ski Team member and two-time Olympian, Kikkan Randall, and took place in Alaska, marking the organization’s first international festival.
