Cologna, Haag and Jönsson Sign On with Fischer Skis and Boots

release by Fischer

May 06, 2012 (Austria) – Dario Cologna (SUI) has used skis from the number one Nordic supplier since the beginning of his cross-country career. The Swiss winner of the overall World Cup title has decided that from now on he will also be hunting for points and medals with Fischer boots.

Everyone who knows the three-time winner of the Tour de Ski and overall World Cup recognize that he leaves nothing to chance. This exceptional athlete from Switzerland carried out extensive equipment tests in Ramsau am Dachstein (AUT) when the season ended. It was not long before he saw that the overall package from his long-standing equipment sponsor was convincing.

“We try to fine-tune things in all areas. My experience with the skis has always been good. And a lot has happened in the boot sector in recent years at Fischer as well,” says a very satisfied Cologna. “With this set-up the skis and the boots are now tuned to each other to perfection. I see it as a considerable advantage and this is what prompted me to switch in good time for the upcoming WCH winter.”

It goes without saying that Fischer is delighted with the decision. “We’re really happy about Dario’s opinion of our overall package. It shows us quite clearly that the work we put in to developing boots is worthwhile,” says Gerhard Urain, Nordic Racing Director at Fischer. “We also have high hopes of the partnership with such an experienced athlete as Dario in terms of future developments.”

Armed with his new equipment, Cologna has already been taking part in the first training camp for the new season since last Wednesday.

Anna Haag and Emil Jönsson Take on New Season with Fischer Equipment

Besides Dario Cologna (SUI), it’s also happening in the Swedish cross-country ski camps as Anna Haag and Emil Jönsson (both SWE) have also decided in favour of Fischer skis and boots effective immediately.

Seeing as last season didn’t work out quite as expected for the two Oslo 2011 medalists due to illness, both have now decided to try to pick up where they left off with their previous successes – but this time with new equipment. This means that Haag and Jönsson have now joined forces not only on a private but also on a professional basis.

Sprint specialist Jönsson has already been very successful with Fischer skis, winning (among others) the small globe for victory in the Sprint World Cup in the 09/10 and 10/11 seasons. “The performance of the boots is outstanding and they are in perfect harmony with the Fischer skis,” says the fast Swede, explaining his new choice of boots, which also includes a switch to the successful NNN binding system.

For Haag, on the other hand, the switch means a whole new package. The world class athlete is already highly enthusiastic about the new equipment: “I felt comfortable with the boots as soon as I put them on and it’s plain to see that the skis work because of all the successes of the other Fischer athletes.”

“As we have already been the most successful ski and boot brand in the Nordic World Cup for two years, word has got around among the athletes that the Fischer package is quite convincing. The new signings, particularly in the boot sector, show that we have taken a giant leap forward in boot development,” says a clearly happy Gerhard Urain, Nordic Racing Director at Fischer.
