ConocoPhillips Signs as Title Sponsor of U.S. National Championships and SuperTour Finals

APUMarch 05, 2014 (Anchorage, AK) – The Alaska Pacific University Nordic Ski Center, host of the 2014 U.S. National Championships and SuperTour Finals, is pleased to announce ConocoPhillips Alaska as the event’s title sponsor.

“Congratulations to APU’s Nordic Ski Center on being selected to host this prestigious event,” said Trond-Erik Johansen, president of ConocoPhillips Alaska. “Cross country skiing is part of the Alaskan way of life, and ConocoPhillips is honored to support this event and all the athletes who will compete. This competition will bring some of the best national and international athletes to Anchorage, and will let us show off our world-class facilities and Alaskan hospitality. It is very exciting to be a part of these championships and to support these world-class athletes as they race toward victory.”

The 2014 ConocoPhillips Cross Country National Championships and SuperTour Finals are affiliated with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). The event is scheduled for March 22-28, 2014, at Kincaid Park in Anchorage.

“These races are a chance to welcome our athletes home after an incredible season,” said James Southam, race director and former Olympian in Nordic skiing. “Alaskan skiers have been sensational in the World Cup races and this is a tremendous opportunity for them to ski in their hometown and inspire the next generation of Alaskan skiers. ConocoPhillips has been a valuable long-time supporter of cross country skiing in the state and we are excited to have them as the title sponsor for the Championships.”
