Craftsbury Nordic Ski Center eNews – Last chance to register!

release by Craftsbury Nordic Ski Center

January 21, 2009 – Registration closes on January 24, at 5pm. We still have space in all categories – 25/50k race, 25k tour and the new relay format. On the fence? Feeling uncertain about this year’s event? With that in mind, we’ve created the top ten reasons to enter the 2009 Craftsbury Marathon and Tour:

#10 – Media. WDEV and WLVB will be broadcasting from the Center all morning.

#9 – Better Grooming. With the new course mainly on Center trails that get groomed daily, the level of grooming throughout the race is much improved.

#8 – Kris Freeman, World Champion and two-time Olympian, will be racing – along with other top athletes from the regional and national level.

#5 – Reduced prices. Signing up late last year would’ve cost one up to $15 more than this year. When we’re all counting our pennies, this covers your gas to get here.

#4 – Excellent Conditions. Ok, we can’t guarantee this one. However, conditions at the Center are currently amazing – especially so for classic skiing. Easy to wax for, nice and fast, with a deep base.

#3 – Being a part of something big. For the 6th time in eight years, the marathon has been named one of the Top Ten winter events in Vermont. C’mon out and join your friends and neighbors for a great day.

#2 – Tasty Food. Tired of energy drink and gels? Want some variety? So do we. We have the quick energy for the fast folks, but our food stops also offer a tasty alternative: warm soups, turnovers, sandwiches – yum.

#1 – FUN! No matter how you choose to enjoy the event – racer, tourer or maybe as part of a relay team – it’s an awesome way to get outside, enjoy Vermont’s wintry landscape and have a great time. Hope to see you on the starting line in a couple of weeks – you won’t want to miss it.
