Cross Country Canada Welcomes Matthew Jeffries as Director of Business Development

release by Cross Country Canada
July 26, 2011 – In order to capitalize on recent success and improve capacity to provide for existing and potential sponsors, Cross Country Canada welcomes Matthew Jeffries to the newly-created role of director of business development.

Matt brings extensive knowledge to Cross Country Canada and its sponsors in his new role. His father Bruce served on the Board of Directors, while his older brother, Chris, represented Canada at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Matt spent the last two years as a managing director and senior consultant with threesixtythree Inc. in Calgary where he provided sports marketing and management counsel to a number of clients including AltaGas Ltd., one of Cross Country Canada’s premier partners.

Matt was also part of a team that provided marketing and business development consulting services to Alberta World Cup 2010, Biathlon Canada and Alpine Canada Alpin. Prior to immersing himself in the sport world, Matt spent six years in the investment and corporate banking division with BMO Capital Markets in Toronto.

In his new role, Matt will focus his efforts on the continued development and management of CCC’s sponsorship and fundraising program that will generate the financial resources needed to provide stability to the national sport body’s programming. Matt will work closely with Cross Country Canada’s director of marketing, Wanda Bogdane, who was hired 13 months ago.

Wanda will continue executing a long-term strategic marketing plan that will support Cross Country Canada’s fundraising efforts, while focusing her attention on increasing communications, overall marketing of the brand, and lending support to sponsorship activation.

This is an exciting step for our organization that aligns with our strategic goals of building corporate support and improving external communication. Matt will be working out of the office at the Bill Warren Training Centre in Canmore.

Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Matt to the Cross Country Canada team.

Sincerely,

Davin MacIntosh
Executive Director
Cross Country Canada
